About Linda

Linda Bolland began her coaching career in Los Angeles, California (l979). She worked for Centrum of Hollywood, Lifeline. Lifeline was a 24 hour telephone crisis line for distressed and troubled people. She worked on the telephone helpline,coaching and using counselling skills with people experiencing multiple issues causing them anxiety and distress. She also managed the Centrum Hostel for Women in Hollywood, California. In which, she engaged woman, aged 14 –30, using coaching and counselling skills to enable them to make life transitions in housing and employment, which often included mental health and substance misuse issues She began her career, supporting people after completing an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology at Rio Hondo College, Whittier, California (l978).

 

Upon taking up residency in the United Kingdom (1988) Linda continued her career supporting people with Hampshire County Council Youth Service (l994). She continued developing her coaching and facilitating skills by undertaking the Hampshire County Council Youth Work Qualification (l996), NVQ Level 4 Certificate in Facilitation Skills, Eastleigh College, Southampton (2001) and the Dip He in Youth and Community Work, Brunel University (2006). She is currently undertaking a Masters Degree with Brunel University in Youth and Community Work.

 

In l997 she undertook research for the West Surrey Health Authority on Mental Health provision for the homeless. She also completed research for Hampshire County Council, Hart District Council and the Blackwater Valley PCT on Access to Services for Substance Misusers in June 2000.  Her work in the Youth and Community field includes managing an Information and Advice Centre for young people aged 16 –25, in which she coached and facilitated learning in young people with a range of issues including, substance misuse, family breakdown, homelessness and mental health.

 

Linda also co-developed and delivered the Social Support Programme for young people in secondary schools, coaching and facilitating their learning in self-awareness, self-esteem, communication skills, anger management and conflict resolution.  Her current role involves working with high need parents and coaching in parenting skills on a one to one basis as well as in groups.  

 

In September 2002 Linda began training in Anger Management with the British Association of Anger Management. She completed her training in July 2003. Upon completion of her training Linda has co-developed a programme of Anger Management for young people, which has been successfully delivered in London. She is also the lead facilitator for BAAM delivering training and coaching in Anger Management for their intensive BA2 and BA1 courses.  This work is primarily for the adult population. She also delivers one to one coaching sessions in Anger Management for Social Services, Education the Health Service  and on a private basis.
